Dr. Abdullatif Alyaqout’s journey into geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) began with a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and GIS in 2011, followed by two formative years at the Ministry of Public Works. Recognizing the need to deepen his expertise, he enrolled in a master’s program in Applied Geosciences and GIS at Kuwait University in 2013—a decision that transformed his career.
Through rigorous coursework and practical projects, Dr. Alyaqout honed his skills in geospatial analysis and applied GIS to enhance urban planning and infrastructure management. His innovative use of GIS to tackle complex spatial issues earned him a scholarship to pursue further studies in Texas, where he earned an additional Master’s and a Ph.D.
Today, as a leading academic and practitioner, Dr. Alyaqout leverages his expertise to advance sustainable development and inspire the next generation of geographers, embodying the transformative power of GIS.
